Available Vacancy: Range Planning Manager
The Range Planning Manager will be responsible for managing and optimizing assortment strategies across multiple store clusters. This position plays a critical role in ensuring product ranges align with shopper missions, store formats, and overall business objectives. The role reports directly to the Head of Merchandising and works closely with Category Managers, Regional Managers, Store Operations, and Data teams.
The position includes direct responsibility for managing a small team, including a Range Planning Assistant and Data Entry Clerks, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and consistency in assortment execution.
Key Responsibilities and Role Scope
Core responsibilities include leading the range review process across assigned categories, ensuring assortments are customer-centric and commercially effective. The role also involves executing assortment optimization by developing and maintaining product choice trees and commercial hierarchies.
The Range Planning Manager will collaborate closely with internal teams to maintain accurate product data, ceiling targets, and store-specific assortments. Planning the introduction and distribution of new products into appropriate store clusters is another key function, ensuring alignment with category strategies and seasonal requirements.
Additionally, the role requires continuous monitoring of range performance, analyzing store feedback and sales data, and recommending changes where required. Presenting range proposals and obtaining senior stakeholder sign-off in line with established governance processes is a vital part of the position.
Required Qualifications and Skills
Candidates should hold a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Business Analytics, or a related field, along with a minimum of two years’ experience in an FMCG or retail environment. Strong analytical thinking, advanced Microsoft Excel skills, and familiarity with merchandising or analytical systems are essential.
